MANAGING POLICE RESPONSE TO PROTEST INCIDENTS
Advanced course designed to give law enforcement officers, supervisors, and command staff a more in-depth understanding of legal issues, policy issues, and response protocols related to First Amendment freedom of speech and freedom of assembly activities. Course is specifically designed to reduce negative encounters with law enforcement.
INITIAL RESPONSE WORKSHOP WITH PRACTICAL EXERCISES
Practical workshop focusing on establishing the Incident Command System (ICS) during initial response to an unplanned incident. This course stresses the importance of taking command at the start of a critical incident, delegating key tasks using an ICS structure, and transitioning to recovery using experiences from real-world incidents as a guide.
NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND ICS
Exceptional deliveries for FEMA courses on the incident command system, planning, operations, exercise and evaluation, EOC interface, ICS for elected officials, ICS curricula, and Type-3 incident management team. FEMA certified and state qualified lead combined with extensive real world experience and practical examples.
LEADERSHIP IN RECOVERY FROM CRITICAL INCIDENTS
This is a facilitated discussion-based class for leadership focusing on initial and long term recovery from a critical incident using lessons learned during prior critical incidents, best practices to extend policies and protocols to include long term recovery, and techniques that encourage interagency cooperation and training.

This thesis-based program included topics on infrastructure, violent extremism, technology, intelligence, agency management, leadership, and research methods.

SENIOR CONSULTANT AND BUSINESS MANAGER
January 2010 - Current
Experienced instructor, contributor, presenter, and subject matter expert for managing police response to incidents and events. Specific topics include active shooter incident management, incident command system, protest incidents, crowd control, homeland security exercise and evaluation, training identification, policy development, promotional exam development and assessment, along with public speaking for law enforcement professionals.
ASSISTANT CHIEF, DEPARTMENT OF PATROL AND ENFORCEMENT
April 2019 - December 2021
Managed special events, emergency preparedness, and a police zone within the historic downtown core for a police agency with 1700 sworn members in a metropolitan area with a million plus population. Agency's lead instructor for incident command system courses. Also served as incident commander or operations section chief for thirty special events a year, along with several unplanned incidents. State qualified as a planning section chief and a member of our regional incident management team.
ASSISTANT CHIEF, DEPARTMENT OF POLICE SERVICES
July 2015 - April 2019
Commanding Officer of our 911 Communications Center that received over 1.5 million telephone calls per year, that generated approximately 800,000 incidents for police service. This position also had oversight of the Body Worn Camera Unit and Civil Unit.
